Wonder...Woman

This Justice Lords arc is already good and with last weeks Batman Beyond, it's only getting better.  While the Batman Beyond story is more of the street level view, the Justice League Beyond book is where the reader gets the overall plot of the story.  This week, Christos Gage slows the pace down a bit in order to give us some back story and mystery and then BAM!  Blind sides us with a right-left combo that leaves us on the ground wondering what the hell just hit us.

Which Wonder Woman are we seeing?  That is the question the reader wants to know, but also what every member of the Justice League is asking, including Superman.  There are mixed opinions from everyone who knew her, but the general consciences is that whichever one she is, she is hardened and weary.  Christos Gage shows us why, through her words and eyes.

She tells Superman that the Justice Lords aren't that bad.  Yes, they killed Lord Batman, but in the end, their world is a better place.  When a threat presented itself, they eliminated it...forever.  While Superman doesn't seem thrilled about it, she assures him more people still live because of this policy.  While this is going on, the whole Justice League is listening in.  It's funny, but also shows the conflict between the members already brewing about the Justice Lords brand of Justice.

Then everything gets turned upside down, sideways, backwards and every other direction things can go. The story just went from heating up to a nuclear explosion.  I really want to spoil it (I'm like that), but I will let you get the comic to see for yourself. It is well worth $0.99.  I'll just say, the War is on!

The only issue I had was that if Superman knew that Lord Batman was dead, why did he let Bruce send him to the Justice Lord reality to look for him.  Was he setting Terry up?

Dexter Soy does a great job with all the varied characters and his action scenes look really good.  His Wonder Woman is especially good showing her as the proud, but war weary warrior she is.

Bits and Pieces:

Justice League Beyond 2.0 #18 heats up the Justice Lords story to a scorching burn.  The question of Wonder Woman isn't answered, but some other questions and realities are more pressing by the end.  The War is officially on and it is and will continue to be awesome.

9.5/10
