Who Cares?

When we last left Earth-44 a couple of issues ago, the Team of Flash, Cyborg, Zatanna and Mecha Superman were up against the behemoth, Arcane Doomsday.  The thing was is beast mode after demolishing Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Shazam without breaking a sweat.  It looked real bad for everyone on Mecha Earth.  However, Mecha Supes gave us a little "this is our Independence Day" moment and the team looked ready to fight Doomsday to the Gates of Hell if need be.

I don't know what happened between issues, but while the team seemed a little less confident, Zatanna was still ready to kick Doomsday ass.  Cyborg and Mecha Superman join in and hit Doomsday with a full frontal assault that does...nothing.  Seriously, Doomsday doesn't even flinch.  Up to this point, the issue was action packed fun, but then it goes down the tubes.

Someone must have fallen asleep at the wheel.  Superman and Cyborg clearly show Zatanna and Flash some Intel and then come up with a plan of attack to send Doomsday back to his own Earth.  Like I said, they clearly show this to Zatanna and Flash.  Yet, this scene is followed by Zatanna and Flash suddenly showing up and announcing to Superman and Cyborg that they have a plan.  At least it's the same plan, but it is really sad that something like this got through so many people to make it to print.

The issue ends with the cliched group shot of the team ready to kick ass.  I have had the sneaking suspicion that this book is the unwanted step child of the Digital First lineup and this issue did nothing to change my mind.  It's sad, but if the creators don't seem to care, why should the reader?

Bits and Pieces:

This issue started with some nice action, but went downhill from there.  This book doesn't seem to be getting any attention from the people involved, so it's no surprise the public doesn't seem to care either.  It's sad, but this is not worth $0.99 a week.  Save your money.

3.5/10
