Screaming for Vengeance

The War is on and last issue was a heartbreaking start to the casualties with Jim Gordon sacrificing himself for his Daughter's identity. Tom Taylor pulled on the heartstrings by taking advantage of his long form character building and it was so good, but so sad.  Dry your eyes, little buddies because this week we get back to a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Spoiler alert...Hal Jordan is a Yellow Lantern.  It is pretty cool if you ask me, but Ganthet isn't too impressed.  In fact, he throws insults at Hal and Sinestro before throwing some heavy artillery at the Sinestro Corps.  Of course Guy Gardner is there to lighten the mood.

Meanwhile, every member of Team Batman (including Ganthet and Guy) head off to confront Superman in the flesh.  Batman has a secret weapon, but it seems like Black Canary is set up for a fall.  After Superman takes a full frontal assault, Canary is falling...to Earth...screaming in Superman's face.  If you have been reading Injustice from the beginning, you will know the full extent of her fury. The issue ends with Superman and Black Canary hitting the Earth like an atomic bomb or five.  If it was a perfect world, next week would reveal that Canary had killed Superman and avenged Oliver.  That won't happen, but a guy can wish, can't he?

Mike S. Miller is on art this week and it's okay.  I don't like his Superman or Barbara Gordon, but it doesn't ruin the issue.  I may just be spoiled by Bruno Redondo's work on this book.

Bits and Pieces:

This issue gets back to it's roots of crazy over-the-top action.  While I have enjoyed Year Two's more character driven issues, it's fun to get back to the basics.  I wish the art was a little stronger, but I still enjoyed the issue.  The ending promises more explosive action next week and I can't wait.

8.4/10
